2. People don't speak English
The Spanish is the only language spoken and in places like restaurants and hostels not many people know English so you would need a dictionary
3. Chachapoyas City is the center of almost all
If you want to visit Gocta, Kuélap, Leymebamba, Karajía, the Laguna de los Cóndores, etc you need to start your trip from the transport terminal of Chachapoyas city, where cars leave and return. This city also has the most of services like comunication, transportation, restaurants, hostels, etc.
4. Wake up early

Some people usually get up at 5:00 a.m. or earlier to go to work in other places, so the cars leave early, also the full day tours, so if you want to visit touristic places we recomend you wake up early, take a breakfast in the market and start the travel.
5. Your identification is important
All the "combis"(vans) of transport terminal ask for your identification to buy a ticket. Take it with you anywhere to be prepared in any situation.
6. You should carry cash with you
The use of credit cards is very resricted and the only currency is the "Sol"
7. Different villages, different adventures
Due to the difference of altitude you will find not only divesity in weather but in people and species too.

Chachapoyas has the capital with less population of Perú. The city has around 30 thousand inhabitants. Even though the inmigration from other provinces has rised, the population is so small that there is a tranquility in the environment. Of course, be smart and observe your surroundings.
9. There is no public transportation
The city is so small that there is no public trains or buses. Walking, riding a bike, taking a taxi or a private car are the ways people move in the city. Taking a van or a taxi people goes outside and return to the city.
10. The history is more than Incas

You know Incas ruled most of Peruvian territory, but before them this land was dominated by Chachapoyas culture from about 800-1470 ACE. There are ancient Chachapoyas ruins and tombs that are still discovered.

12. People appreciate your education
People are friendly and more if you show polite to them. The gratitude of people to your interest in their culture is greater than you can imagine.
13. Raymillaqta is the most important celebration

Raymillaqta is the festival of all peoples of Amazonas. It starts on June 6th and ends on 11th, during this time people of different provinces of the region came to Chachapoyas to show their cultural expressions like dance, music, typical food,etc. Although this tradition has 20 years, it displaced the Virgen Asunta's day as the most important celebration in Chachapoyas.
14. Try the Chachapoyan bread

One of the things Chachapoyas is known in the region is because here you can taste one of the most delicious breads. There are more than 10 different varieties of bread that are prepared in traditional clay ovens.

The nature in Chachapoyas is really awesome. The green and yellow mountains and canyons, the flowers and the different birds deserve a good picture for your travel album.
